Fashion Channels in Pakistan | Role of Media for Fashion

No matter how bad the economic conditions of the world become, people still find time and money for fashion. The desire to maintain a fashionable status is mutual in men and women. And of course in today’s times, the same desire exists in the children as well. No matter how hectic a life is, and how tight the budget becomes, people push with all their might to look trendy.
Media as always has played a major role in propelling these sentiments in people.Especially the electronic media seems like it’s being sponsored by the fashion gurus and designers! Now whether the fashion channels are aiming to make people’s lives more stylish, cater to their desires or making their lives more complicated.that remains to be an unanswered are two major TV fashion channels available for the Pakistani audience.
The Fashion TV Pakistan caters to the audience that are more comfortable with English language programs. It is focused on the foreign fashion news, view and trends. The Style360 in Urdu has managed to acquire quite a big audience over the years too; mainly focusing on the fashion trends of Asia, not to mention the latest gossips of Lollywood, Bollywood and Hollywood. Both these channels have more than 20 programs that go on air weekly.

One thing that the Fashion channel audience is bothered with is the fact that the hosts of the programs are dressed more in western designs rather than promoting Pakistani fashion. It’s not that Pakistan’s style gurus haven’t got that sparkling designer collection that could awe anyone; but actually the hosts of fashion channels have dressed that way since nobody knows how long. It would be a refreshing start, if the anchors and hosts do their shows in the latest eastern wear. The Pakistani latest fashion trends would get a real boost this way as the people who don’t have time to sit through the entire program could simply switch to the channel every once in a while to get a good look at the latest shirts and trouser stitching styles. Never the less, while the dressing style of the hosts remains the same, the channel program variety has certainly improved. Not only are the programs being shown promptly, i.e, as soon as the fashion events took place, sometimes even live; also the outlook of the fashion shows, the recording room setting and the programs themselves have become much more fabulous and interesting.
The Bridal Couture Week that went on air last year, certainly took the audience by surprise. People literally had their eyes glued to the television sets to see all their wedding desires come alive in the Fashion channel shows which covered the event. If the Fashion channels in Pakistan carry on doing this kind of work, they are anticipated to get multiplied all over the network. We might witness numerous others channels that would target all the fashion struck audience of Pakistan, in the coming years. Meanwhile, lets keep our fingers crossed for much more interesting and glamorous programs to go on air on the Fashion Channels of Pakistan.
